Measuring lifecycle lift without vanity metrics
Open rate is a lighting condition. It tells you the room was bright enough to notice the message. It does not tell you whether the message earned another order.
When Mirror Routecore says Lifecycle Messaging Analytics, we mean a small set of outcomes that a sceptical colleague can reproduce: repurchase, reply (where the channel has one), unsubscribe or mute, and — if you must — revenue only after the holdout is clean. Screenshot metrics stay off the monthly signal board.
Lift needs a denominator you can name
“7.2× reactivation lift” appeared in more than one intake screenshot last year. Almost none of those figures named the control, the window, or the burst exclusions. In module five of Cohort Signal Architecture we force the fraction onto one line: (treated repurchase rate − control repurchase rate) / control, inside a dated window, after contamination rules. If any piece is missing, the tile stays blank. Blank is more honest than a large number.
Reply is not a vanity metric on every channel
Email reply can be noise. LINE reply in some Thai retail programmes is an actual human asking about stock. Treat them differently in the taxonomy. Journey Attribution for CRM Teams spends a week separating “conversation” from “accidental tap.” If you cannot tell them apart in the log, do not put reply on the board yet.
Unsubscribe slope is a leading indicator
Teams bury unsubscribes at the bottom of a dashboard because they feel like failure. On a signal board they sit next to lift. A series that buys a little repurchase and a steep mute slope is not a win; it is a loan. Quiet-Hour Calibration Lab exists partly so that loan gets a date.
What we refuse to average
We do not average lift across categories, countries, or celebrity weeks. We do not publish a studio-wide “success rate.” Alumni numbers you see on this site — 2,180 journeys read, eleven cohorts since 2019, a 38-minute typical critique turnaround during atelier — are operational counts, not proof that your next send will work.
If you want the teaching version of this argument, sit in Signal Atelier. If you only need someone to say your current board is decorative, Pulse Clinic is cheaper and ruder.
